Publikácia reprezentuje 3 rozdielne pohľady fotografov Petra Ertla, Vlada Kampfa (Život, Notabene) a Petra Orviského (DigiRevue) na bežný život v arabských emirátoch.
| In spite of the arrival of digital technology with all its possibilities of image processing and modification, we are still somehow inclined to perceive photography as an objective media. Most of us believe that (at the very least) the non-manipulated photographs truly depict the real world we live in. Not many of us realise that every single image is inevitably subjective and to a high extent determined by the personality of the photographer, his ideas, feelings, experience and his attitude to the world. Those who are aware of this phenomenon do not necessarily consider it something negative. On the contrary: it is often this subjectivity of the photographers‘ unique view of the world what draws our attention to their photographs and what inspires and enriches us. The publication „3×3 Oman“ is a good example of this phenomenon. Three photographers spent together several days in the same place. Although they might have stood just a couple of metres from each other when taking the images we are confronted with three completely different views of Oman. The authors not only focused on different themes but their images also differ in the visual approach and aesthetics used. | Napriek nástupu digitálnej technológie s jej neprebernými možnosťami úpravy obrazových dát máme stále sklon vnímať fotografiu ako pomerne objektívne médium. Akosi podvedome predpokladáme, že fotografia (prinajmenšom tá nemanipulovaná) nám pravdivo ukazuje, aký je svet, v ktorom žijeme. Málokto si uvedomuje, že každá jedna snímka je nevyhnutne subjektívna a v značnej miere determinovaná osobou či presnejšie osobnosťou fotografa, jeho názormi, pocitmi, skúsenosťami, videním sveta. Tí priaznivci fotografie, ktorí si tento fakt uvedomujú, ho však nemusia nutne vnímať ako negatívum. Práve naopak: subjektívnosť, jedinečnosť a neopakovateľnosť individuálneho autorovho pohľadu na svet je možno práve tým, čo nás na fotografiách iných baví a obohacuje. Výstava 3 x 3 Omán 2006 je priam ukážkovou ilustráciou tohto fenoménu. Traja fotografi strávili spoločne niekoľko dní na jednom mieste. Možno pri vzniku niektorých snímok dokonca stáli pár metrov od seba. A napriek tomu sú divákovi predkladané tri celkom rozdielne pohľady na Omán. Jednotlivé výstavné súbory sa odlišujú témami, ich obrazovým spracovaním, výrazovými prostriedkami i estetikou. | |
| Peter Ertl has been presenting us with his unique view of the world through the medium of photography for almost 25 years. For the last decade he has been mainly involved with commercial and fashion photography. His personal interests revolve around portrait, especially in its emotional and expressive modes. His recent works are a fascinating and innovative combination of documentary, street and studio aesthetics. It is his ambition not just to skim the surface, but to present us with an intrinsic view of the essence of emotions and moods of ordinary people. Stark and unassuming in pose, devoid of meaningless gestures and vague perceptions. In the Oman project he also focuses on expressive portraits of indigenous people which he has been drawing on from different parts of the world recently. We witness the emergence of a remarkable photographic pursuit of simple human emotions. | Peter Ertl Fotografii sa venuje viac ako 25 rokov. Posledné desaťročie sa komerčne zameriava najmä na reklamnú a módnu fotografiu. V jeho voľnej tvorbe dominuje portrét, a to najmä v emotívnych a expresívnych polohách. Autorský rukopis P. Ertla je osobitý prelínaním dokumentárno-reportážnej, streetovej a ateliérovej estetiky. Jeho snahou je nezostať na povrchu videného, ale dostať sa ľuďom takpovediac „pod kožu“, k podstate prežívania emócií a nálad bežného človeka. Bez póz, prázdnych gest a povrchných vnemov. Aj v tejto sérii ostal verný expresívnym portrétom domorodcov, ktoré v poslednom čase prináša z rôznych miest sveta a z ktorých vďaka jeho nezameniteľnému rukopisu postupne vzniká pozoruhodná štúdia univerzálnych ľudských emócií. | |
| Vlado Kampf is a very active journalist and photographer, accomplished through rigorous training. As a professional he has to be able to bring attractive, dynamic photographs from any place and any event, even from a boring press conference. It is not surprising then that he managed to bring so many stunning images from such an exotic and photogenic destination as Oman. You can even smell the fish in some of his photos! | Vlado Kampf aktívny fotožurnalista, má tvrdý tréning: ako profesionál musí byť schopný urobiť atraktívnu, dynamickú fotografiu úplne všade, hoci aj na tlačovej konferencii. Niet preto divu, že to výborne zvládol v takej exotickej a fotogenickej destinácii, akou je Omán. Z jeho fotografií trhoviska priamo cítiť vôňu rýb. | |
| Peter Orviský has a free hand in his work. He is not a professional photographer, so he doesn’t have to follow any strict requirements or dogmas of journalistic or commercial photography. In Oman he was taking snapshots of various fragmentary moments or scenes, which captured his attention. Afterwards he managed to arrange them into a varied mosaic. As an active journalist in the field of digital photography he has concentrated not only on photography itself, but also on some technical aspects – especially on the possibilities of the new digital technology in exteriors and in extreme conditions (e.g. in a desert). Looking at his photographs we may conclude that the cameras worked really well. The three authors are well aware of the fact, that in a few days it is not possible to explore thoroughly an unknown environment, to penetrate under it’s surface and beyond the visible. Nevertheless, they hope that their photographs from Oman will captivate and enlighten some of us. RNDr. Vladimír Burjan, | Peter Orviský má pri svojej fotografickej tvorbe celkom voľnú ruku: nie je profesionálnym fotografom a nemusí svoj výber tém ani fotografický rukopis prispôsobovať žiadnym požiadavkám komercie ani fotožurnalistickým kánonom. V Ománe zaznamenával rôzne fragmentárne momenty či výjavy, ktoré ho zaujali a z ktorých zostavil pre divákov pestrú mozaiku. Ako publicista v oblasti digitálnej fotografie sa zameral aj na to, ako zvláda táto nová technológia exteriérovú fotografiu v náročných podmienkach. Z jeho snímok možno usúdiť, že na výbornú. Za niekoľko dní nie je možné v cudzom prostredí preniknúť príliš hlboko pod povrch, za javovú rovinu vecí a dejov. Autori si to uvedomujú, nemali túto ambíciu a netvrdia, že sa im to podarilo. Napriek tomu dúfajú, že divákov ich fotografické postrehy z Ománu zaujmú a osviežia. RNDr. Vladimír Burjan, |
